We need vzdump, but isn't there in Ubuntu 8.04 repository, so download from proxmox site and install by hand, but first the dependencies aptitude install liblockfile-simple-perl cstream ssmtp I find that dont work anymore the download, so i searched manually on the Ubuntu repos, then i have manually uploaded

CPU distribution inside container on SMP hosts If the total number of containers in your host is more than CPUs number, and there are many 'threads' running inside each container it is better to give just a single VCPU to each container. In this case thread memory locality will significantly reduce overhead on SMP memory coherence and overall performance can be increased up to ~50-100%!

On the server where you want to restore the VM, type: vzrestore /vz/dump/vzdump-openvz-1101-2010_06_17-18_05_42.tgz 1201 where 1201 is the new VEID of the restored VM, you can use any VEID that is unused the server, you could even use 1101 again if it is unused. If you don't want to modify the settings of the VM (e.g. IP address, hostname), you can start it now, but please make sure that the original VM is stopped on th first server, because otherwise the IP addresses conflict

Before we can create virtual machines with OpenVZ, we need to have a template for the distribution that we want to use in the virtual machines in the /var/lib/vz/template/cache directory. The virtual machines will be created from that template. You can find a list of precreated templates on wiki.openvz.org
